Domingo de Ramos: “O Rei que entrou em Jerusalém montado em um jumentinho é mais do que alguém que tem poder temporal”

Terminada a Quaresma, iniciamos a Semana Santa com a celebração da entrada de Jesus em Jerusalém e o seu julgamento seguido de sua morte. A decisão de Jesus de ir para Jerusalém revela a sua plena obediência ao Pai como vemos na segunda leitura. Mesmo sabendo do risco que corria indo para o centro do poder religioso, político e econômico, Jesus não renuncia à construção do Reino e ao anúncio da verdade e da Boa Nova.

O processo contra Jesus é único. Nem dos romanos, nem dos judeus. Ambos seguem seus interesses e são cegados pela covardia de não aceitar a verdade. Diante dos poderosos Jesus tem apenas a verdade para se defender. Mas foi porque sempre disse a verdade que os chefes judeus o perseguiram. Agora os chefes manipulam o povo que está em Jerusalém para que condene Jesus à morte. No fundo os poderosos estavam com medo, talvez de perder o poder, e, para os chefes dos judeus, perder os seus privilégios religiosos. Por isso, caluniando, o acusavam de subversivo ao Império Romano e blasfemo se dizendo Filho de Deus.

Jesus por sua vez, não é uma vítima do acaso ou mártir da situação de um povo subjugado pelo Império Romano. Ele é o “servo obediente” que entrega a sua vida para salvar a humanidade mesquinha, vingativa e autodestruidora. Diante das ameaças, Jesus confia no Pai que é seu auxílio e nunca abandona seus filhos e filhas. Vemos na primeira leitura do profeta Isaías como o servo sábio exprime sua confiança no Deus auxiliador que acompanha os pequenos e humilhados. Jesus sofre angustiado, carrega a cruz, deixa que o crucifiquem e morre. Sua última palavra é de confiança e pede ao Pai para não abandoná-lo.

Quem abandonou Jesus foram os discípulos, todos amedrontados e desiludidos pelo trágico fim daquele Mestre que anunciou o Reino e revelou-se “Deus conosco”. Contudo, Lucas diz que as multidões o seguiam e muitas mulheres se lamentavam choravam por ele. Coube a um oficial romano reconhecer que na cruz tinham crucificado um “homem justo”!

O Rei que entrou em Jerusalém montado em um jumentinho é mais do que alguém que tem poder temporal. É aquele que ama a ponto de dar a sua vida pelos outros. A Semana Santa convida todos os cristãos ao seguimento de Cristo, isto é, de abraçar o projeto de Deus para construir o seu Reino e defender a vida. Para isso é necessário agir construindo a paz em casa e na sociedade, estendendo a mão ao próximo caído ou necessitado, amando a ponto de entregar a vida sem egoísmos.
